Go ahead, believe the hype
The Katana is a lightweight, hyper-responsive, game changer of a binding. Built on the surfy and playful AsymWrap platform and the locked-in hold of the AuxTech® strap package, the Katana is pure all-mountain performance. A team rider and in-house favorite, the Katana is cult classic thanks to the next level adjustability of PivotMount Max and its freakishly lightweight design.
Built to maximize tweakability and a surfy board feel, our innovative AsymWrap platform started the conversation about how bindings can and should ride.
New for this season, our bindings feature FastEntry Technology for super quick and easy entry into the binding. The pre-curved ladder on the ankle and toe straps are designed to pop open and help keep the straps out of your way while getting your boot into the binding. Strap in faster and easier thanks to FastEntry!
New for this season, our BombProof Buckles are a one-piece forged aluminum construction for better grip and durability. Built with wider stance teeth area for more engagement, this makes for easier ratcheting and increased protection from wear and tear to your ladder straps.
A Rome exclusive binding innovation, PivotMounts are small adjustable pieces that allow riders to move the position of their ankle straps on their boots. The higher up on your boot the ankle strap sits, the more power and turn initiation. The lower the strap goes, the more surfy and tweakable your riding will be.
PivotMount Max provides 8 different strap options per side of the ankle strap, 64 configurations total.
Designed so riders can adjust their highbacks to mirror the angle of their heelside edge for maximum power transfer.
Built so that riders can adjust the angle of their highback to mirror the angle of their lower leg for increased connection and stability.
Created to help fit a wider range of boot models and sizes.

Usually would wait longer before leaving a review, but after one day on these I can confidently say they are the best bindings i’ve ever ridden. They totally leveled up my riding and boosted my confidence.
I spent time tweaking with all the customizations to really get them dialed in and it was so worth it. Comfortable, powerful, responsive… and they look dope too!
Moved over from Union Atlas and the difference was immediate. The Katanas disappeared under my feet! Comfy and responsive, locked in without feeling locked in. I swear I ollied higher today
Finally pulled the trigger on a pair of these after wanting them for a long time. Love the ability to customize them and it was an easy process once I received them. They look awesome and so far have lived up to the hype. The AuxTech is pretty sweet coming from traditional padding…not sure if I would be able to go back now. Stiffness feels approximately as advertised so far. I have no complaints.
I switched out from some burtons. And I am super impressed at the quality of the katanas! The straps are amazing zero foot discomfort. The adjustability is endless. And edge to edge response is off the charts. I put them on a new k2 excavator and I’m super stoked with the combo! Bravo Rome 🏼
Made the switch to previously having union forces and union contacts to these Katana's based off of a recommendation from a friend.
Had some issues with fitting these to my boots initially but after a few days of tweaking them I think I've got them fully locked in. I have some old 10.5 US Nike Kaiju boots and went with the L/XL but might have been able to get away with using the M/L bindings as I've had some small shifting. Unfortunately didn't have a Rome dealer near me to try the binding/boot fit ahead of purchase.
Haven't tried fullwrap vs asymwrap so I'm not sure how to compare the main differences. I would likely go for a fullwrap binding if you're a more aggressive rider or on a mountain with steeper terrain based on what I've read online.
My main complaint would be the lack of resources on how to adjust these to your boots and riding style as it took a few days of tweaking everything to find something that worked well for my riding style. Would be nice if they included a 'cheat sheet' on setting up the binding quickly.
