Out of the box customizability is absolute insane. Got these yesterday as a replacement from a pair of Union Atlas. I sooo stoked. Rode all day. No pressure points. Great response and just a fun ride. Rode it all day in powder, on ice, groomers and chunder. And my legs were not exhausted.
Might have to get a second pair for my other board.
Recommended by friends to just pick the most expensive model. Very responsive, good for female rider as well
If you have the budget, the Rome Katana is an investment in a binding that takes your snowboarding to the next level. The build quality is excellent (Rome also offers a lifetime warranty on the baseplate and buckles) and the performance is phenomenal on any terrain. It is the ultimate chameleon among snowboard bindings for me! And a big shout out to Rome Service, who are really amazing and helpfull.
Really comfy and adjustable bindings.
These bindings are an absolute game changer. Super responsive without feeling stiff, and the comfort is unreal—no pressure points even after a full day on the mountain. The straps lock in perfectly, and the adjustability makes dialing them in quick and easy. Whether you’re carving groomers or hitting the park, they just perform. Highly recommend.
These are really comfy and responsive bindings, the best in the market. Also got a riding hoody from Rome and it’s so comfy.
Been wantig these for years now, great bindings for all conditions from groomers to to outback.
A lovely binding overall, you can either rock them straight factory settings out of the box, or spend time tweaking until your hearts' content. Feel very locked in, while the AW allows tweaks, presses, and grabs a bit easier. Absorbs chatter better than any binding I've ridden recently (burton cartels, arbor cypress). Size SMALL Katanas fit my size 8 Ride Fuse boots perfectly - no side to side play, perfectly centered toe and heel overhangs. A bit more difficult to get your boot into than other bindings.
My stats/riding style: 39 y/o, M, 160lbs, advanced all mountain rider, size 8 Ride Fuse boots. 30+ days on the bindings this season.
Pros: very adjustable (both for response or playfulness, or to eliminate pressure points); suck up chatter and absorb rough hits like no other; AUX tech toe strap is the best in the biz
Cons: Largest gripe - toe ladder is so short that it's difficult to get the toe ratchet started. I've experimented with different ladder and strap positions (fore and aft) as well as strap length - nothing seems to help, and it seems Rome toe ladders only come in one length regardless of binding size. Also, toe and ankle straps don't "swing" away from binding foot bed to allow easier entry as some other bindings do. Need to check hardware a bit more frequently than other bindings.
Overall, I would (and have) recommend these bindings to others, but 4/5 due to the aforementioned gripes. That being said, most of these issues are solved via the Katana FASE model.
Amazing bindings. Great build. Matched with all mountain true camber board. Give great control but also some flex when needed. Amazing sweet spot.
The Katana AW bindings met all of my needs. I wanted an aluminum chassis binding with more lateral play than my RIDE A-9s and more response heel-to-toe than my Union Forces (2023) and these deliver. I have my Katanas mounted on my K2 Antidote and I love how I can access responsive edge control while carving and still be able to comfortably shift my weight over the nose/tail when I want to get funky with some presses. The adjustability with the ankle strap placement is perfect too. Ride with it high for carving morning corduroy and then move it lower to surf the afternoon spring slush. I also like the board feel under foot. It’s just damp enough to absorb the micro vibrations and give comfortable landings while not completely eliminating my connection to the snow.
No issues with bolts coming loose. I check my bindings before I ride every time no matter which pair I chose to ride that day. Also no issues with the high back. I know some people crack theirs, but those cases seem like user error. Just don’t step on it and be sure to fold it down before getting on the lift like you would with any binding and you’re good.
Overall I’m really impressed with my first pair of Rome bindings and I’m looking forward to getting a pair with the FASE tech next season. I finally had a chance to demo a pair and my opinion has changed.
