I just started boarding last year on some Salomon bindings. I was intrigued by the FASE design and all my research kept telling me Rome was worth the money. Let me tell you, the very fast and helpful customer service was fantastic, and made me feel very confident in Rome. The bindings side by side are night and day difference in quality. I’m very impressed with the solid design, much nicer buckles, and the amount of adjustments available. They are a bit stiffer which is what I was looking for, but still have that playful feel. I’ve been spending time practicing in and out and I love how easy it is. I’m very glad I spent the money on Katanas!!

I've been riding with this for a while now, and they’ve seriously impressed me. The responsiveness is next-level—edge transitions are fast and precise. Whether I’m carving hard or just cruising, the control feels dialed in.

What really surprised me is how easy lateral movements are. Ollies, fore-and-aft shifts—everything feels smooth and effortless. I’ve been a longtime Step On user, and honestly, the entry speed on these bindings is just as fast. In fact, I can strap in quicker than my friend who uses Supermatic bindings.

Tips for potential buyers:

Don’t overtighten the toe strap—it works best when it’s snug but not cranked.

If your boot size falls between two sizes, I’d recommend going with the smaller one for a better fit.

Overall, these bindings deliver high performance with the convenience of fast entry. Rome really nailed it with this design.

These bindings feel just as solid as the standard katanas, which are the best find things out there in my opinion. Only comment would be that the number of mounting points for the heel strap rotation mechanism is reduced from my older set of Katanas. Unsure if this is the case with all of the newer models are just these ones in particular. Don’t see it as anything that will hold them back though.

Extremely customizable, comes with extra parts, works like a dream. Good for the hard charger, which is important to me! And hopefully you too!

Ive rode the normal katana aw for 4 seasons now. Spent about 10 days on the Katana Fase last year and they ride the exact same. Non canting highback was a slight bummer since I ride a pretty aggressive front angle, but overall, great binding and entry system

Been waiting for something like this. Not sold on the 'convenient' type of bindings, but always envied the speed of people with them. These have all the feel and support I want but allow for super quick in and out. Once you get the entry/exit down, not only are they fast but you don't even notice a difference between Fase and two strap bindings (honestly these may be even more dialed as far as connected board feel goes). Going on every rig in the quiver

The perfect bindings if you want to leave your homies in the dust! These bindings are everything I've come to expect from Rome, and more. I was honestly a bit skeptical of the fast entry system before trying these out, but I'm totally sold after just a few runs. They feel exactly like a traditional binding while you're riding, which is what's most important to me when it comes to new tech. The new ankle strap is so sick too!

Ive been riding Katanas for years and never thought it could get any better. The fast entry is something I wasnt looking for but now I cant ride without it. The new ankle straps are also insane.

As long as my bindings ride like traditional bindings I'm happy. All the Rome tech that made Katanas my favorite binding paired with the new fase system is cash money. You can expect the same performance and level of customization...honestly there is no tradeoff anywhere at all. These are definitely going on the whole quiver from here on out.
