Stale Crewzer

Designed by Ståle Sandbech as his “one board quiver,” the Stale Crewzer has quickly become a staple for team riders, shop kids, and anyone who wants to ride like Ståle. This Directional Twin throws down in the park but is a real beast on the steeps thanks to the versatile performance of its Fusion Camber profile. The Stale Crewzer also features our Flax Impact Plates for additional impact absorption and increased durability.

Technology

Fusion Camber

Positive camber with small pockets of rocker at the contact points; the modern go-to for versatile, all-mountain performance.

Directional Twin Shape

Twin Single HotRod

Torsional flexibility; pressable yet reliable all-mountain charging.

Carbon HotRod

Carbon HotRod

Super responsive and powerfully snappy.

SinterStrong Base

SinterStrong Base

Our versatile, low-maintenance, ride-it-all sintered base.

Flax Impact Plates

Flax Impact Plates

Flax Impact Plates are woven flax mats that are housed around the board’s insert packs, sandwiched between the core and top sheet. This horizontal layup works to withstand deep landings, distribute impact in variable conditions and increase the board’s overall lifespan without dramatically changing the board’s flex.

Stale Crewzer Graphic Story

This year’s Stale Collection marks ten years of pro models for Ståle Sandbech and Rome; a massive milestone. Over the course of ten years, we’ve explored endless themes and graphical approaches. A decade later, Ståle’s approach to snowboarding, as well as this graphic, took a simpler path. After several variations on a singular theme, we landed here. With clouds building in the sky, a Storm is brewing. Mixed with a base electrified by a singular lightning bolt, these graphics is poised to stand out whether in the backcountry or laying ruts on local groomers. Ståle and his partner welcomed their first son, Storm, in to the world this past Summer.

Awesome Board

Overall I felt great riding the Stale Crewzer. The ride felt smooth and somewhat floaty while still being responsive when needed. The board had good pop with a little effort and felt great off of the jumps. This will be my new go to board for laidback all mountain cruising.

Never riding Rome again

I bought a new Crewzer about 9 months ago. After a handful of riding days the top sheet split and the core started to swell. Rome approved my warranty and instructed me to further disable my Crewzer by drilling a hole in it. After I drilled the hole and sent over the picture they said that they didn’t have any boards available in their warranty inventory to replace my defective board. I gave them other boards I could accept but they had none of those either. Basically they had only odd sized beginner boards that they could replace mine with, or they would let me go and buy the Crewzer from their website at middle-of-the-season full price rates. It’s been over a week in February and still no board has been sent to me. I ride a lot of other brands and this is by far the worst customer support experience I have experienced. I am a snowmobile guide and snowboard instructor so I deal with folks in the industry a lot. Romes warranty is a complete joke to the entire snow industry.

Way too delicate

I got one of these boards and only used it 6 times before it delaminated. Didn’t even notice it before I rode on it all day. Warranty crew didn’t even give me the time of day saying it was probably my fault. Screwed me over getting stuck with a bad quality board that I dumped a ton of money on.

I ended up putting a ton of epoxy in it to fix it before taking it out when, shocker, it broke again. Wasn’t even doing anything crazy, the core just failed for no reason with barely any pressure to the nose. Not sure if the delamination weakened the core or not but it was dumb how easily it broke. In not so shocking news, warranty team again told me it was my fault and again, not the board’s fault. I beg to differ, this board sucks and is too weak to handle the basics of riding. Not worth the money, especially when you’d need to use the so-called warranty that doesn’t protect your gear anyway. Wouldn’t recommend.

All around mountain slayer

The Stale Crewzer is an excellent board. I love the camber profile for pop, grip, and stompability while ripping big mountain lines, yet its excellent in the park. I noticed the ease of landing due to the stiffness when going massive on a hip or drop. The carvability is also very noticeable when sending groomers or ripping through a slope that has tracks all over it. This is may favorite Rome board to date and I've ridden Rome for years on MOD's, the National, Agents, Gangplank etc...

New shape, same do anything/everything board!

I had an older Crewzer that I cracked and loved it so much that I had to re-order this when it released. First week on this board had some insane pow, chunky snow, and fresh groomers throughout the first week of the year here in the PNW of resorts opening and I wouldn’t have wanted to be on anything else.

Reviews of the stale crewzer

First, huge fan of stale and this year’s graphic is super cool. I bought 158cm of this board and I am 178cm, 75kg with boots size 7.5 which I think 156cm would fits me better after a week on this awesome deck!
Groomer: this board is truly a craving machine, specially for layout long carves the transition is smooth and powerful, love it.
Park: it’s stale’s board so say no more, however it is stiff than I expected I would say about 7.5/10. I would order 156 instead of 158 if I know it’s going to be stiffer than I expected. With the extra length and width I kinda have to muscle it.
Freeride: pretty stable and predictable board, it flows really well in swallow pow and for deep pow day you just have to lean back for the camber session. Bumps run is predictable the impact plate help with absorbing the shocks from crudy micro bumps.
I love this board and wish I have ordered 156cm instead of 158cm. It is a great choice for all mountain freestyle board and I would suggest don’t go up size on this board because it’s solid and the radius is longer and more consistent than other boards for the same length.
